Deuss Ex Machina # 219 - The Disappearing Act2sleepy is a producer who creates sounds while sticking close to the nature of it, like in the nature itself. During the resulting days of 2005, Andriy 'Paranoid' Prokopenko and Yura 'Dorialan' Marchenko duo has taken a breath from their solo careers and started an adventure in combining their personal music tastes in a collaboration. Their main references are Bj?rk and Nine Inch Nails as they shout it out on their web site. The name "2sleepy" lets them to musicalize silence, fear, frustration and stagnation. Their debut release comes out from Fragments Of Sleep Laridae. Edited rhythms are harmonized with melodies while the work itself combines industrializm and experimentalizm in the likes of Planet Mu and Rephlex. During 2007, Yurko Kozy and Vsevolod Solncev enters the team and we end up with the current line up of 2sleepy. This change brings complicated partitions and tasteful coreographies based on the electronic music ground. In the midst of April, they get the support of rural "ROK Music" and release their second work "Art Fraud". Industrial rhythms, experimental micro cut copy sounds, electro acoustic structures create the general musical idea of the album. Guitar riffs have a similar taste to Radiohead's "In Rainbows" in the sense that they are ultimately combined with smaller electronic elements. "Trip" and "Happy" provide a sensual conclusion to the positive feeling while the keyboard offers a divine intro to the vocal which follows without hesitation. This is a rehabilitation of the soul with every single detail thought of and applied. "Clock Myself" slows down the "Modeselektor" basics as adding in a touch of Drone in order to create a "fair tale"like atmosphere. The ambient work "Musicbox" features broken beats, a sound from a tilt machine and electronic body dance music itself. "I Hate You" is an indietronica that follows the pop sound in the album with careful steps. We get into a dreamy state with "Cab's Back Sit" while the micro sampling and drone structure of the ambient "Rainy Day" end the final lap of this beautiful race. A neverlasting experience that takes steps, but is sure they are not leading to anywhere known. "2sleepy" puts out our frustrations and heart aches with carefully hidden life segments within each track. It is an experience that everyone must taste. |
